My Favourite Books

Web Director and current Designer of the year, Dr Hossein Rezai was invited by Design Singapore as part of their inaugural bimonthly series of book recommendations by President’s Design Award recipients.

Dr Rezai recommended the following books, with a small citation for each:

‘Dancing Wu Li Masters’ by Gary Zukav

“There are a number of engaging interviews with scientists who work on the edges of our understanding of the universe, from the smallest elements and atoms, to the largest planets”

‘Architecture and Plurality: Aga Khan Award for Architecture 2016’, by Prof Mohsen Mostafavi

The book covers the winning entries of the 13th cycle of the prestigious Aga Khan Award for Architecture (AKAA), of which Dr Rezai was a member of the Master Jury.

‘Structures: Or why things don’t fall down’ by J. E. Gordon

“Prof Gordon explains the principles of engineering and the behaviour of materials using day to day experiences in an entertaining and captivating manner, from creases in our clothes, to the origin of the Parthian shot.”

The new series, brought to you by DesignSingapore Council, Urban Redevelopment Authority and library@orchard, can be seen on the National Design Centre website.
