Web Structures have embarked on a collaboration with Future Cities Laboratory of Singapore-ETH Centre to develop new category of construction materials from natural resources for use in the construction industry. This includes a steel rebar replacement product derived from natural bamboo as well as ‘Mycelium’ – a material which grows from mushroom roots to become a natural alternative to insulation. These materials have the potential to revolutionize the construction industry in developing countries.
The initial development phase of this collaboration will culminate in the construction of a 3-storey house in Indonesia to showcase the new materials and provide real-world testing.
